The LBRCT conducts bird counts on the Breede Estuary every month. These counts are started at the mouth of the river at spring low tide (either New Moon or Full Moon). This is to ensure the most birds are recorded as they forage on the exposed mud flats. The bird count is stopped at the Pont (38 km upriver).
Twice a year the LBRCT assists CapeNature conduct their Summer and Winter Coordinated Waterbird Counts (CWAC). This year the Summer CWAC took place in February and the Winter CWAC in August. Results can be found below.
